Leadership requires flexibility. Effective leaders shift between multiple roles depending on the needs of their teams and the challenges they face. Participants learn about several common leadership roles — teacher, listener, catalyst, accountability partner, challenger, champion, and advisor — and reflect on which roles feel most natural and which require more development. Leaders assess how their current style impacts team performance and consider how expanding their range can strengthen relationships, improve communication, and reduce leadership stress.

Motivation is not one-size-fits-all. This workshop introduces the Five Motivational Methods — Contact, Acknowledgment, Rewards, Assistance, and Time — a framework designed to help leaders better understand what drives their team members and respond more intentionally. Participants explore practical strategies for recognizing effort, supporting staff development, and reinforcing purpose without contributing to burnout. Leaders identify one team member and develop a customized approach to motivating and supporting that individual more effectively.

Inspiring Through Communication: Connecting Work to Purpose
Leaders do more than assign tasks — they help people understand why their work matters. Participants explore how leaders communicate meaning and inspire action through clarity, perspective, and storytelling. Leaders examine the difference between intent and perception in communication and learn how to adapt their message to resonate with different audiences. Participants practice using a structured storytelling framework to connect daily work with the mission and impact of the organization.

Listening & Feedback That Actually Works
Many leadership challenges stem not from lack of effort, but from breakdowns in communication and feedback. Participants explore different levels of listening and learn how effective listening strengthens trust, reduces conflict, and improves team performance. Leaders examine practical tools for delivering feedback clearly and constructively, including the Situation-Behavior-Impact (SBI) model. Through role-play exercises and discussion, participants practice navigating difficult conversations, managing defensive reactions, and creating environments where honest communication can occur.

Empowering Teams Without Losing Control
Empowerment is often misunderstood as simply delegating tasks. Effective empowerment requires clarity about expectations, decision authority, and accountability. Participants explore how leaders create systems that allow team members to take ownership of their work while maintaining appropriate oversight — including defining success expectations, clarifying decision boundaries, and structuring supervision conversations. Leaders practice mapping different types of decisions: those to retain, those to delegate, and those requiring collaboration.
